BotArt. “Exhibition of art on wine barrels”

The project the Ribas Winery invites local artists to interact freely with the wine barrels, with the aim of reinforcing and uniting the world of wine with the world of creativity, since both wine and art are ancient crafts with a great deal of history behind them. BotArt will take place every two years when the artists’ works will be catalogued and shown in a traveling exhibition.

A total of 21 artists have participated in this initial event in 2008: Rafel Amengual, Jim Bird, Pep Canyelles, Pep Coll, Toni Colom, Manuel Coronado, Crespí i Alemany, Pascual de Cabo, Ñaco Fabré, Rafa Forteza, Pep Guerrero, Bàrbara Juan, Mercedes Laguens, Joan Lacomba, Joan March, Glòria Mas, Tòfol Sastre, Joan Sastre, Pep Suari, Jaume Terrassa and Joan Vich.

Using barrels to create works of art is a new, original way of raising the profile of the artists in this region where the wine culture is of growing importance.
